2018 Head of the Hooch

The Head of the Hooch is one of the world’s largest rowing regattas, with 2,000+ boats racing over two days. 1,200 boats (and more than 9,000 seats!) compete on Saturday alone, which is more in one day than any other regatta.

Rower registration - $395

  • Included in the registration fee is the following:
  • Transportation
  • Lodging
  • Pasta dinner - Friday night
  • ¾ zip SORA pullover 
  • Hospitality will provide nutritious snacks, water and gatorade
  • Regatta fees
  • Boat transportation

Please submit your rower’s registration quickly - All rowers must be paid in full by October 30, 2018.

Every parent and rower needs to attend our Informational Meeting on Monday, 29 October, 5:30 pm, at the pavilion in Moss Park. There you will receive more detailed information

Saturday, November 3, 2018 - Race Day

  • Breakfast at hotel 
  • Van transportation to and from the venue.
  • Hospitality - Nutritious snacks, water and gatorade will be served at the hospitality tent. 
  • Lunch will be on the rower’s own. There are many places to choose from within the venue
  • Dinner -  Either at hotel or at local restaurant

Sunday, November 4, 2018 - Race Day 2

For those rowers traveling to Orlando on Sunday - departure time will be announced prior to Sunday

  • Breakfast at hotel 
  • 2 vans will be traveling back to Orlando
  • Lunch will be on the rower’s own, vans will make a stop on the way back to Orlando

For those rowers racing on Sunday

  • 2 vans will depart after racing to the Sleep Inn North Macon
  • Dinner will be on the rower’s own, vans will make a stop on the way to the hotel in Macon

Text Sign-up for regatta specific information:  This is the best way to get up to the minute information. Information will be sent out via text the entire weekend. Text to 81010 the message @hooch18 

Meals: SORA will be providing some meals on this trip. The rowers should have money for all non-provided meals. Breakfast will be at the hotel.  SORA will provide a team pasta dinner on Friday night. All other team meals will be at reasonably priced restaurants.

  • “non-racing” clothes for 3-4 days
